15 Natural Antibiotics Medical Doctors will never Prescribe

by Sasha

Too often these days, doctors prescribe pharmaceutical antibiotics for every little sneeze or sniffle. Many of these artificial antibiotics come with adverse side effects, such as headache, nausea, dizziness, paralysis, and even death. These pharmaceuticals are full of chemical ingredients that may pose additional harms to the body that we are not yet even aware of.
Best Natural Antibiotics
The next time your doctor whips out the prescription pad for an antibiotic, consider these all natural antibiotics instead.
1. Oregano Essential Oil
Oregano contains a natural antimicrobial called carvacrol. Carvacrol can successfully fight bacterial infections, and this is successful in combatting most strands of the common cold. You should utilize oregano essential oil as a natural antibiotic, but do use it sparingly as it is strong and may result in an upset stomach. Always make sure you dilute this essential oil with a carrier oil and seek out professional advice regarding proper dosage.
2. Pure, Raw Honey
There is a reason that honey is often recommended to treat colds, flus, and sinus infections. The enzymes that naturally occur in honey release a form of hydrogen peroxide, which is commonly used to treat infections. For best results, you must use organic, raw, unpasteurized local honey; commercial honey will offer very little benefits.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has been used for years to treat a variety of infections. ACV has natural antibiotic, anti-fungal, and antiseptic properties, which make it an extremely effective antibiotic. Apple cider vinegar may be ingested to combat colds and cases of flu or may be applied topically as a sterilizer or disinfection.
4. Garlic
Garlic does more than just keep vampires away, it is also an effective tool in fighting infections. A key component called Allicin is found in garlic which effectively fights yeast, parasites, bacteria, and more. Garlic is easy to add to your diet when you need to use it as an antibiotic, but crushed, raw garlic is especially powerful when fighting off an infection.
5. Cayenne Pepper
Cayenne contain capsicum, and because of this has been used for centuries to treat a variety of infections. Studies are beginning to show more and more just how effective capsicum essential oil is in fighting infections in the body, making it an effective natural antibiotic. To get the benefits, you can simply add some cayenne pepper to one of your dishes every day as needed.
6. Grapefruit Seed Extract
Research supports the claim that grapefruit seed extract effectively fights and prevents infection, thanks in large part to its antibacterial properties. Grapefruit seed extract is commonly used to treat warts when applied directly to the skin.
If you do use GSE topically or want to ingest it internally, make sure you get a product that is of high-quality. You can also make your own by grinding some grapefruit seeds and mixing them with the (juiceless) pulp and some glycerin.
7. Ginger
Ginger is especially effective in fighting off illnesses such as salmonella and listeria caused by food-borne pathogens. Ginger is also effective in treating simple upset stomach or indigestion (which is why people often drink ginger ale when they’re nauseous). If you believe that you are sick due to a food-borne pathogen, eat some raw ginger, or make a ginger root tea, to kill off the bacteria.

8. Olive Leaf Extract
Although it’s not as well-known as olive oil that comes from the same tree, olive leaf extract has long been used to treat infections and bring down fever. The secret ingredient here is called oleuropein, which can act as a broad spectrum antibiotic, helping to fight off various fungi, viruses, and bacteria. With plenty of food, take two 500 mg capsules of olive leaf extract 3-4 times per day to treat an infection.
9. Echinacea
Many people utilize echinacea when suffering from cold-like symptoms, and there’s a good reason behind this. This herb is believed to have antibacterial properties enough to treat yeast infections, strep throat, and more. When using echinacea as an antibiotic, take 300 mg three times per day until the infection is completely gone, continuing the treatment a few days after all symptoms have subsided.
10. Pau d’Arco
Pau d’Arco not only serves as an effective natural antibiotic, but it also helps regulate and normalize the ratio of good-to-bad probiotics in the gut. This, in turn, helps prevent future infections and improves the efficacy of other antibiotics. For an effective antibiotic,  pau d’arco is often consumed as a tea, which can be found in most health food stores.
11. Colloidal Silver
Colloidal silver is a popular item to be used for the treatment of sore throats and infections of the throat. While this should not be a long-term treatment (it is still a heavy metal after all), in can be used temporarily and sparingly to prevent the growth of bacteria in the body. Talk with a holistic practitioner to determine the correct dosage for you.
12. Onion Extract
Onions have been proven to actually draw bacteria out of the body, which of course makes them very effective antibiotics. Some studies suggest that even smelling an onion is enough to reap the antibacterial properties of this natural antibiotic.
13. Horseradish Root
Isothiocyanates, referred to as ITCs, are known to possess antibacterial properties and they are found in horseradish root. The same oil that makes horseradish root an effect natural antibiotic is also found in mustard and wasabi.
14. Turmeric
The curcumin that is found in turmeric is responsible for many health benefits, and fighting infections is one of them. The antibacterial and antimicrobial properties of curcumin make turmeric a powerful natural antibiotic and an excellent alternative to the pharmaceuticals often prescribed. An additional perk is that curcumin also helps fight against cancer and many auto-immune diseases.
15. Habanero Peppers
These particular peppers are not only some of the spiciest peppers but also one of the best natural antibiotics around. To fight that cold or infection, eat some habanero pepper in any form that you can handle it.

Clearly, there are plenty of effective, natural options when it comes to antibiotics. The next time your doctor wants to write you a prescription for some pharmaceutical concoction to cure an infection, consider this list instead.
