EMAIL PRINT RSS SHARE A new animal study shows that quercetin is so successful at reducing inflammation in the GI tract that it is able to prevent changes in the digestive tract that lead to colon cancer. The researchers found that quercetin was able to decrease the number of cancer cells that were spreading in the colon while at the same time helping to kill existing cancer cells. They were able to completely offset the effect of a toxic compound to produce colon cancer (which it did in the control animals).
Quercetin is widely used for allergy, skin, stress, and digestive inflammatory problems of all types. It is nice to know that it also helps prevent colon cancer.
