SB 277 passes, but stumbles -- urge a veto!
SaveCalifornia.com's Randy Thomasson says this pro-family battle is not lost
As this battle continues to rage, I want you to realize 3 things:
First of all, thank you to everyone who's made one or more calls to oppose SB 277. Your calls strengthened the good that SaveCalifornia.com and others were doing at the State Capitol.
Second, the result of our collective opposition was seen today in the Assembly floor debate, where four Democrats spoke passionately against SB 277, making it a robust debate. Seven Republicans also spoke well against this anti-family bill, and the debate lasted an hour.
Third, today's Assembly debate will generate more media attention, which is on top of all the coverage so far of families coming to the State Capitol with their vaccine-injured children. All this helps lobby for a veto. Several Democrats standing up in opposition will especially generate more coverage. Jerry Brown will be aware of this (he demands to be sent any news clippings mentioning him) and will be influenced as he considers signing or vetoing SB 277, after this high-profile bill passes the state Senate on a concurrence vote.
So be encouraged that your support of parental rights and medical freedom is making a noticeable dent on this swing issue in the Democrat-dominated Legislature. There's been sizable media coverage that's included opposition arguments to forced vaccinations, and there's been Democrats in both houses who've opposed this bad bill. SB 277 can be vetoed, so please heat up the governor's phone lines!
TAKE ACTION AND TELL OTHERS: Call Governor Jerry Brown at 916-445-2841. Urge him to "Veto SB 277 -- parents should not be forced to vaccinate their children!"
Here's SaveCalifornia.com's news release sent to media after today's big vote:
California Assembly approves forcing vaccinations on families
Thomasson: Gov. Brown should veto "this unnecessary, illogical, freedom-robbing bill"
Sacramento, California -- In response to the California Assembly today passing SB 277, which would force vaccinations on the majority of California families, by a mere 6 votes after a robust one-hour debate, SaveCalifornia.com, a leading California pro-family organization which promotesmoral virtues for the common good, has issued the following statement:
"I've never seen a bill that has attracted such opposition from both left and right," said SaveCalifornia.com President Randy Thomasson. "Parental rights and medical freedom are important to the majority of Californians. Parents of children injured by the modern volume of vaccines have made their plight known. SB 277 denies parents a safer, slower vaccine schedule, denies parents the right to exempt genetically-susceptible brothers and sisters of vaccine-injured children, denies parents a religious exemption, and denies conscientious objectors a public-school education. The fact that four Democrats passionately denounced SB 277 on the Assembly floor should interest Governor Brown to consider vetoing this unnecessary, illogical, freedom-robbing bill."
Facts:
The Disneyland measles outbreak is over. All the infected Californians have recovered and now have lifelong immunity.
No health authority can claim that an unvaccinated child with an exempt form was "Patient Zero" at Disneyland. Both the CDC and CDPH says it was a foreign traveler who caused it.
Studies show occurrences of measles, mumps, and rubella despite high vaccination rates -- 99% in a China province and 98% at a Colorado college.
Some vaccines, such as nasal flu vaccines, the rubella portion of the MMR vaccine, and the chickenpox vaccine are known "shedders" that can spread disease to others.
The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) has paid out $3 billion in compensation awards to vaccine-injured families for claims of disability and death.
"If SB 277's author really wanted to boost vaccination rates, he'd levy penalties against public schools that don't enforce the current vaccination law and therefore have 'high' unvaccinated rates among children whose parents don't use the official opt-out form," Thomasson said. "Or is trampling the parental rights and moral liberties of innocent families preferable to enforcing the current law?"
