Scotty posted a truth bomb: "UV light induces damage to epidermal keratocytes through p53-mediated transcriptional induction of the proopiomelanocortin (POMC) gene. POMC is then cleaved into two peptides: α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) and β-endorphin. α-MSH stimulates melanocytes to produce the pigment eumelanin, which tans the skin. β-endorphin, however, is a highly abundant endogenous opioid that binds to the μ-opioid receptor. Exogenous opioids that bind to the μ-opioid receptor are typically addictive."
Spock's opinions: The pulsed and artificial-light generated UV that scientists used in past and present experiments to test the carcinogenicity needs to be questioned VERY deeply. Don't believe me? Go do your homework and look at how researchers and scientists setup their experiments from the 1980s and even today. Are they using human-produced UV, or do they use that big ball of fire in the sky that provides life to the planet in their experiments? Message to researchers: we're watching how you design your experiments.
Luckily, some humans and animals still have common sense. Yes, don't get burned. Yes, acclimate to the sun over the spring and summer. Yes, find shade. Yes, keep hydrated. Was sunscreen around even 100 years ago? Were sunglasses around for blocking sunlight 100 years ago? Are all of the bunnies, squirrel, and birds using sunscreens and sunglasses? Did humans generally wither away from cancers 500 years ago? 1000 years ago? When were the pyramids built in Egypt? Are elephants dying left and right at the moment because they are out in the sun all day, or do they have the lowest cancer rates for all mammals on the planet? https://www.news-medical.net/hea…/Sun-Tanning-Addiction.aspx
