In 2012 researchers at the University of Texas Medical Branch, investigated the potential therapeutic role of two kinase inhibitors in interfering with Ebola virus: the plant compound genistein and the pharmaceutical drug tyrophostin. The article “Inhibition of Lassa virus and Ebola virus infection in host cells treated with the kinase inhibitors genistein and tyrphostin,” published in the journal Archives of Virology supports a:
“…kinase inhibitor cocktail consisting of genistein and tyrphostin AG1478 is a broad-spectrum antiviral that may be used as a therapeutic or prophylactic against arenavirus and filovirus hemorrhagic fever…”
The authors reference a previous animal study that found both genistein and tyrophostin individually inhibit the entry of these viruses into the cells by interfering with endocytosis (the process by which a cell pulls in a virus) and uncoating proteins (the process by which a virus alters proteins on the surface of the host cell to gain entry). It was also observed that a synergistic effect occurred when genistein and tyrophostin were added together.
How To Get Genistein Naturally
Genistein is found in greater concentrations in legumes and the greatest concentration in soy. Chickepeas (garbanzo beans) are also a good source of genistein but not as good as soy.
I do prefer chickpeas because overall they are a better legume than soybeans. Soybeans are a heavily genetically modified crop which compromises its structure and benefits. Genistein is also found in other plant based life such as clover seeds, caraway, sunflower, broccoli, cauliflower, red clover and other medicinal plants.
Potential Natural Ebola Virus Therapies
- VITAMIN C THERAPY: Vitamin C therapy expert Dr Robert Cathcart, MD stated the Ebola virus kills
“by way of free radicals which can be neutralized by massive doses of sodium ascorbate intravenously.”
Ebola and other viral hemorrhagic diseases in general resemble acute scurvy in that is depletes vitamin C, and scurvy is caused by vitamin C deficiency which results in bleeding throughout the body. Along with Vitamin C being able to combat the scurvy like symptoms, vitamin C supports and strengthens the immune system, and has antiviral properties. - GARCINIA KOLA: Was reported in 1999 to halt the deadly Ebola virus in its tracks in laboratory tests. Article 1, Article 2
- ESTRADIOL: The study published in PLOS, “A Systematic Screen of FDA-Approved Drugs for Inhibitors of Biological Threat Agents” found that estradiol exhibited anti-Ebola virus activity in vitro, indicating the relevance of hormonal factors and perhaps gender in susceptibility to the disease.
- SIX-EYED SPIDER VENOM (SICARIUS) REMEDY: A homeopathic treatment for Ebola haemorrhagic fever based on the treatment for being exposed to the venom of the Sicarius spider. The Sicarius spider causes symptoms of envenomation similar to the Ebola virus and is thought to be of potential use against the Ebolavirus.
