Alkalinity and Its Importance

I never fully understood or appreciated the concept of alkalinity until I entered my health journey in March 2008. In 2001 I had a brief encounter with early-stage non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma . All was good…..so I thought.  Alkalinity never came up.  In February 2008 it returned with a vengeance. Stave IV! I thought I was leading a healthy lifestyle. It was time to learn more. I did not know what I did not know.

As I began my search for information alkalinity and the body’s natural ability to heal became paramount.
Dr. Otto Heinrich Warburg, one of my heroes, a biochemist and 1931 Nobel Prize winner for his work with cancer cells and oxygenation told us about the connection between alkalinity and disease long ago. Alkaline water and diet are the foundation. The more I learned there was no question that the practice of alkalizing the body for healing and rejuvenation would be something right up my alley.

Doctors practicing either integrative or alternative medicine will tell you that the body is alkaline by design and acidic by function. We are meant to be 80% alkaline and 20% acidic.
But what is alkalinity, and what does it mean to be alkaline?
Alkalinity is the one and only thing that can create homeostasis or total balance in our body. You don’t have to wade through confusing medical terminologies to fully understand it. Below are some quick facts on alkalinity.
  • Having an alkaline environment means having optimum levels of oxygen in the blood, cells, and tissues. It’s the sufficient amounts of oxygen that create an alkaline environment.
  • The more oxygen in your blood, the more alkaline you are.
  • The more hydrogen you have in your blood, the more acidic you become.
  • Acid is only good inside your stomach but not outside it. Acid dissolves and destroys. Imagine what happens when your cells and organs are bathing in it.
That’s how crucial alkalinity is. It is the best short-cut to vibrant health. It’s the very foundation of superior health. Being alkaline means that your cells and organs are functioning optimally, that they’re able to detoxify, heal, and regenerate them efficiently.
When you are alkaline you reverse your body’s biological age. You look and feel younger than your chronological age. If you find yourself zooming along the lanes of old age then it’s time for you to alkalize your body. But it doesn’t only fight the aging process. It also supercharges your immunity. When your immune cells are well-nourished they can defend your body against diseases and pathogens more easily.
Alkalinity puts you more in control of yourself.
It enables you to decide how long you want to live, what kind of body you will have, what kind of life to create. It does not just improve your health. More importantly, it improves the quality of your life.
Alkalinity gives diseases AND depression nothing to latch on to.
Euphoria is something that alkaline folks experience, not just optimal health. I am not saying that the vicissitudes of life won’t affect you anymore. What I’m saying is that grief or sadness won’t find a stronghold in you. You will experience them if you lose someone you love or some other unpleasant event happens in your life, but they won’t last long. Neither would they be as intense. That’s because alkalinity gives you greater mental and emotional stability. It just centers and grounds you in spite of what’s happening in your life. Acidosis on the other hand magnifies negative emotions, which in effect compounds the problem by raising your acid levels further.
So is there any reason for you not to be alkaline? None. Join me then as I share with you more info on alkalinity and tips on how to be alkaline—in other words, how to stay young, become healthy, and be happy.
