Vaccines, Adjuvants and ASIA Syndrome
An adjuvant is an agent in a vaccine that is used to greatly increase the immune response and antibody production. ASIA Syndrome (Autoimmune-inflammatory Syndrome Induced by Adjuvants) is a relatively new diagnosis describing a broad spectrum of immune-mediated diseases, triggered by a vaccine adjuvants.
Formerly, adjuvants were thought to pose little independent threat to health. Alas, more and more studies in both animals and humans are demonstrating that many of them have the ability to cause autoimmunity and other diseases. Examples include:
