The benefits of walnuts surprise heart patients and doctors
(NaturalHealth365) The health benefits of walnuts should not be ignored as part of a heart healthy diet. The science is abundantly clear – an organic, whole foods diet can literally save you thousands of dollars in healthcare costs by helping you to avoid expensive surgeries and costly medications. Although this information is suppressed – walnuts have been shown to help prevent type-2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome plus cardiovascular disease.
Protect your heart with real vitamin E from walnuts
When consumed in their whole form, walnuts provide a very high level of vitamin E in the form of alpha-tocopherols and gamma-tocpherols – both forms offer significant heart protection.
Let’s not forget the phytonutrients available in walnuts including the tannin, tellimagrandin and the flavonol, morin.
These rarely discussed, yet valuable, nutrients are some of the most important anti-inflammatory agents within the nutritional world. In fact, every cardiologist should “prescribe” walnuts as part of an overall healthy heart program. Come to think of it – we should focus most of our attention on nutrition to prevent heart attacks – instead of expensive surgeries and toxic medications.
There is a better way!
Big pharma wants you to never see this research
Recent studies have shown that the consumption of walnuts containing a-linolenic acid (ALA), L-arginine and polyphenols actually improve vascular function and reduces inflammatory biomarkers. It does this by favorably improving serum profiles, which means it decreases LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, while increasing HDL cholesterol.
A team headed by Emilo Ros MD, PhD, director of the Lipid Clinic at Hospital Clinic in Barcelona, Spain and colleagues indicated that the addition of walnuts to a high-fat meal can improve endothelial function. In other words, eating walnuts improved the way our circulatory system responds to the consumption of fatty food.
Dr. Ros points out that one of the nutrients found in walnuts is arginine – an amino acid used by the body to produce nitric oxide. Walnuts also contain antioxidants and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid.
Keep in mind, most people would benefit from consuming more omega-3 fatty acids – which are anti-inflammatory in nature.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) disappoints the American consumer
Instead of being thankful for the heart protective properties of walnuts – the FDA has attacked companies like, Diamond Foods for promoting its health benefits. Why? Because in the mind of the FDA, only “drugs” can help treat health conditions and walnuts are not “approved” for such use. It’s crazy – but it happens all the time. When are we going to say enough is enough!
Diamond Foods made truthful claims about the health benefits of consuming walnuts and the FDA didn’t like it. Plain and simple!
The consciousness of a society is changing fast – as more and more people realize that government-sponsored health agencies only have allegiance to pharmaceutical companies. Hey, I’ve got a great idea, why don’t we simply boycott anything the FDA approves – until they earn our trust back!
Store bought pharmaceutical concoctions offer hyped up health benefits with (often times) lethal consequences. Real healing comes from the inside out and given the right tools – like a handful of walnuts every day – we can experience optimal health all the days of our life.
Good things come in small packages
How many walnuts give a health benefit? How about just eating 1 ½ ounces per day – it’s easy to use them as a condiment on salads or cereal. Be creative and enjoy!
