The beverage that destroys
breast and prostate tumors
I used to love the old Calgon commercials from the 1970s. You may remember the one when a customer asks Mr. Lee how he gets his clothes so clean. His response was an "ancient Chinese secret." Well, there must be a lot of ancient Chinese secrets, because the Chinese have a fantastic secret for fighting cancer that goes back thousands of years. What's more, two new studies show this secret is highly effective.

In the first study, researchers found out how green tea inhibits vascular endothelial growth factor and hepatocyte growth factor. Both of these promote the growth and spread of cancer cells.
In this study, the researchers gave 67 men either six cups of brewed green tea or water daily for three to eight weeks. Then they tested their PSA (prostate-specific antigen) levels at the beginning and end of the study. The scientists found that the men's PSA levels were significantly lower at the end of the study than at the beginning of the study.
Lead author of the study, Dr. Suzanne Henning, said "Our study showed that drinking six cups of green tea affected biomarkers in prostate tissue.... This research offers new insights into the mechanisms by which green tea consumption may reduce the risk for prostate cancer by opposing processes such as inflammation, which are associated with prostate cancer growth."
We've known for some time that inflammation is a major problem with cancer. So finding ways to lower inflammation is key to reducing your cancer risk and helping you fight tumors. The PSA isn't a very reliable marker for cancer, but it's a fantastic marker for inflammation in the prostate. The fact that green tea can lower the PSA so quickly shows just how powerful it is in fighting inflammation that leads to cancer.
In the second study, this one from Columbia University Medical Center, researchers gave 40 women either 400 mg, 600 mg, or 800 mg of a standardized green tea extract or a placebo. They gave them their dosage twice daily for six months. Then they collected blood and urine samples every two months.

The women taking the green tea extract had an average 10-fold increase in green tea metabolites compared with the placebo group. They also saw their hepatocyte growth factor (a measure of tumor cell growth and spread) levels come down after just two months. This growth factor is a common marker in breast cancer.
The researchers concluded, "We found that tea consumption was associated with reduced risk of cancers of the breast and prostate, in middle-aged and older women and men who mainly consumed green tea."
These studies show that you can safely drink up to six cups of green tea every day and not have any adverse effects. What's more, it can greatly enhance your body's ability to fight cancer, especially prostate and breast cancer.
As far as the extract is concerned, this study used a maximum dose of 800 mg. Other studies show that 1,500 mg is the best daily dose for staying healthy and fighting cancer. So if you have either prostate, breast, or any other cancer, consider taking 1,500 mg daily of a green tea extract or drinking up to six cups per day of green tea. You can find 1,500 mg of green tea extract in Green Tea Extract. It could work wonders for helping your body fight cancer.
